About St. Margaret's Public School

St. Margaret's Public School was named after a local Anglican Church established in 1833, and is located near the intersection of Lawrence Avenue and Galloway Road. The school opened in September of 1972 and serves students from Junior Kindergarten to grade 8. St. Margaret's serves a diverse multicultural community. Approximately 95% of our population live in apartment buildings. About 20% of our students were born outside Canada, and 40% do not speak English at home. With innovative teaching and high expectations we believe all students can learn and make a difference. We endeavour to attain excellence through academics, Character Education, and athletics.

St. Margaret's Public School is located in West Hill

West Hill's name comes from its elevated position on the west side of Highland Creek, a deep glacial ravine. Until after World War II, West Hill was largely rural, although it had some commercial development, some even dating back to the late 19th century. The majority of the housing stock in this neighbourhood was built in the 1940s through the 1960s and some newer townhouses and recently added custom-built homes are also sprinkled throughout the community. The area is bordered to the west, north and east by Highland Creek.
