St. Aidan Catholic School, operated by the Toronto Catholic District School Board, opened in 1973. We are a Kindergarten to Grade 8 elementary school conveniently located next door to St. Aidan Catholic Church where staff and students join parishioners for morning Mass about once a month, often on First Fridays. We serve a diverse community, during regular school hours and after. At the school there is an onsite Best Starts daycare for children aged 2½ to 6 years and a Parent and Family Literacy Centre for preschoolers and their caregivers. Adult ESL classes are held in the evenings from Monday to Thursday. Tamil language classes for children are held on Friday evenings and Mandarin classes are held on Saturday.
L'Amoreaux is named after Josue L'Amoreaux (1738–1834), a French Huguenot loyalist who settled there. The area is a suburban residential neighbourhood predominantly of single-family detached homes and townhomes, dating from the late 1950s, as well as some mid to high-rise apartment buildings and condominiums. The area contains many tree-lined streets, huge sidewalks, and winding roads. The eastern edge of the neighbourhood is known as Clarks Corners.
