Inglewood Heights Junior Public School first opened in 1956 as a Kindergarten to Grade 8 school with 196 students. Today, we are a Kindergarten to Grade 6 school and we serve approximately 250 students. We have a diverse community; our students' backgrounds include speaking over 20 different languages! Our commitment is to provide a well-balanced, challenging and nurturing educational program. We provide students with significant blocks of time for the study of literacy & numeracy, as well as the integration of other subjects. We welcome parent and community involvement. We are very proud of our annual community events. Inglewood Heights is a Future Aces school and we believe that all students can learn & succeed every day.
Relevant Literacy and Numeracy Programs
Our dedicated teachers participate in ongoing professional development which enables them to provide students with a balanced literacy & numeracy program. Teachers provide students with large blocks of time for studying Language and Math, and for integrating all other subject areas. Students learn modeled, shared, guided and independent reading and writing strategies. Emphasis is placed on the use of a variety of texts, both fiction and non-fiction to assist students' comprehension. The Math curriculum is delivered through the use of manipulatives, problem-solving strategies & technology (eg., Interactive Whiteboards, Chromebooks & iPads).

Full Day Kindergarten at Inglewood
Inglewood Heights has had a Full Day Kindergarten Learning Program since September, 2010. Our Kindergarten teachers work with Early Childhood Educators to provide our Kindergarten students with a full day of meaningful programming that will help them get the best start to their education. This play-based program emphasizes inquiry-based learning and self-regulation. The Full Day Kindergarten program provides young children with a better start and a firmer foundation for future success in school and in life.

Healthy Bodies...Healthy Minds!
We are an active school! Our students are taught the importance of healthy eating and an active lifestyle. We offer many extra-curricular and team sports. Students participate regularly in Daily Physical Activity (DPA). Students receive healthy snacks daily, as part of our Snack Program to promote healthy eating and to make them conscious of their eating habits.
Outdoor Learning Classroom at Inglewood Heights
We have a beautiful playground in the heart of the community at the front of the school. The playground features slides, a climbing apparatus and a sand surface. A nature trail serves as an outdoor classroom to promote Eco-Literacy. Large stones are all around the back of the school for an outdoor reading area and a wonderful spot to enjoy picnic lunches in good weather.

Student Life - Where You Belong
Inglewood students follow the Future Aces creed: Attendance, Co-operation, Effort and Sportsmanship. We encourage students to believe in their abilities, and to strive to always challenge themselves. We regularly celebrate students' successes, challenge them and help them further improve. Junior students may be Student Leaders. They help plan activities and serve as MCs and ambassadors for school events. We are proud of our partnership with Shepperd Village Retirement Home. We are fortunate to have two classes for Primary and Junior students with Developmental Disabilities; this is a wonderful opportunity for all students to learn about differences and acceptance from each other. We teach our students about social awareness and social justice and that they are a part of a larger community. Each year we participate in various fundraising activities where we support worthy causes and give back to others in need. We have a variety of extra-curricular activities, excursions, and school concerts. We often have special presentations for our students at our school. Student life at Inglewood Heights is a wonderful life!
What Sets Us Apart
Everywhere we go, people always ask us "Who we are?" and so we tell them:"We're from Inglewood! Mighty, Mighty Inglewood! We are Aces! Future Aces!We've got spirit! Wildcat spirit! I-N-G-L-E-W-O-O-D!" We sing our school song at Future Aces Assemblies. At these monthly assemblies, students are recognized by their teachers in front of their peers for showing excellence, improvement, good citizenship or for demonstrating the Character Education trait of the month. Families are invited to these assemblies so that we can celebrate students' successes together. Students are also recognized for their Random Acts of Kindness. Each month, staff & students are encouraged to record acts of kindness to be shared during assemblies. At Inglewood, we recognize excellence & success in every child! Parent and Community Engagement
Parents play an important role in their child's education and in the life of our school. The Inglewood Heights community is warm, welcoming and vibrant. We have an active School Advisory Council (SAC) and we continue to build valuable partnerships with businesses and our community and parent volunteers who assist with: - special events and fundraising - Agincourt Public Library class visits - reading/remedial/enrichment programs - support of a variety of charities, (e.g. Agincourt Community Services Food Drive) - interpreters/translators in the classrooms - library and computer lab - involvement in pizza lunches, bake sales, movie nights and other fundraisers - involvement with community: Ontario-wide or Canada-wide organizations such as Terry Fox, Unicef, United Way and the Heart & Stroke Foundation
