Our School was named after the author, Lucy Maud Montgomery, who created the character, Anne of Green Gables. The school is located in the south-eastern Malvern Community of single, semi-detached, and town house residences. Lucy Maud Montgomery's goals are inspired by our commitment to excellence. Our vision statement is, "building the foundation for a lifetime of learning." Through wide ranging partnerships, we strive to develop a feeling of mutual trust so that we may deliver programs that focus on the holistic development of the child. Lucy Maud Montgomery serves a diverse community. Our staff is dedicated to meeting individual needs and strives to develop the whole child in a safe, caring, and supportive environment.

On-Site Daycare Centre

A fully licensed Y.M.C.A. daycare centre is housed within Lucy Maud Montgomery Public School. Childcare is available for children aged 18 months to 12 years.

Student Life - Where You Belong

At Lucy Maud Montgomery, students are provided with numerous opportunities to be involved in their school life. If you enjoy sports, our students have numerous opportunities to participate in athletic events such as cross country, track and field, slo-pitch, volleyball and basketball. Furthermore, students in our Primary and Junior divisions are able to participate in various house league activities. Other co-curricular activities include a Boys' Club, a Bridge-building Club, a Robotics Club, various Dance Teams and a choir. Our students are supported outside of the regular classroom. All of our teachers provide regular remedial support for our students. Some of our staff also offer after school Literacy and Numeracy programs through the Continuing Education Department. At Lucy Maud Montgomery, we reinforce the Character Education Program by holding student-lead recognition assemblies combined with a merit program designed to reinforce desired character traits and student success. 

What Sets Us Apart

Our commitment to the arts is what sets us apart. Our students are provided with a wide variety of opportunities to express themselves through the arts. All Junior and Intermediate students are given an opportunity to learn an instrument and are offered the opportunity to participate in our enrichment band program. There are also opportunities for our younger students to express themselves through vocal music. We also have a lively drama program through our classroom teachers as well as our co-curricular Drama Club, whereby students have an opportunity to work on a theatre production that is performed in the spring. Through our on-going partnership with the organization, "Arts Foundation for Children and Youth", our students have had an expanded opportunity to work with a professional artist to transform our lunchroom. 

Parent and Community Engagement

Our school values reaching out to our community. We have many volunteers who enjoy working in our classrooms. We have an active School Council which meets every second month. We also benefit from several University of Toronto students who work on reading strategies with our primary readers. We also offer a Heritage Dinner, concerts, and parent information sessions for Curriculum Nights, EQAO, Math support, and the high school selection process.

An Exceptional Music Program

All of these unique opportunities give our students a chance to work with groups from outside our building.
