Charles E. Webster is committed to improving the literacy and numeracy levels of our students. Our junior public school, in the Keele/Eglinton/Trethewey area, reflects the diverse community in which it is located. To serve the needs of our community, we offer many programs including: English As A Second Language (ESL); Parenting and Family Literacy Centre for parents and their children up to 6 years; Settlement and Education Partnerships in Toronto (SEPT) worker; and specialized learning. C.E. Webster is a certified SILVER EcoSchool which is committed to greening the schoolyard and to recycling waste.
TDSB Model Schools Initiative
We are committed to innovative teaching and learning practises that support the academic, social, emotional and physical well-being of our students. Webster is dedicated to creating an inclusive environment that respects and reflects all aspects of the school community. We believe that our school is the heart of our community!
Aboriginal Education
Our playground features a permanent large stone Medicine Wheel. Forty stones represent stages of life, seasons, animals and virtues. The virtues complement character traits taught through the TDSB Build Character, Build Success Program. The Medicine Wheel was designed by Aboriginal artist/teacher, Shannon Thunderbird, built by our students and dedicated in a ceremony by Elders of the Mississaugas of the New Credit in 2009. The school community is invited to use the site as a place of reflection.

Eco School
Webster students participate in a rich environmental education program which encourages them to develop ecological literacy while engaged in practises to become environmentally responsible citizens. Eco Schools helps improve school building operations to reduce environmental impacts. Students monitor energy use, waste reduction, recycling, and composting.
Build Character, Build Success!
Student success is dependent on a safe, caring, inclusive learning environment where every student feels valued. Much of this starts with teaching about the value of character, respecting themselves and each other, making positive contributions and thinking critically and creatively. Each month we focus on one trait and recognize students who demonstrate the trait.
Student Success
Our program is shaped by a variety of sources of data. We prepare our students for major transitions as they start school through our Welcome to Kindergarten program, grade transitions and grade eight to nine support. We have community connections with TDSB personnel and outside agencies.
Toronto Foundation for Student Success
Our students benefit from our partnership with the Toronto Foundation for Student Success. Annual vision and hearing checkups are offered to our students with care as required. Students enjoy a snack through our morning meal program made possible through the generosity of our volunteers/staff and our partnership with the Toronto Foundation for Student Success.

What Sets Us Apart
We Are Proud of Our School! Information technology is an integral part of our educational day. We have become wireless in the entire school and continue to update our technology for all grades. Our library is open to students all day. The collection is continuously renewed and reviewed for relevance and inclusiveness. Students see themselves represented in the curriculum, program and culture of their school. Authentic experiences and experiential learning are built into our programs. We have a partnership of students, schools, family and community.
