MISSION STATEMENT
We believe that each member of the St. Andrew School Community is unique and special and has a positive contribution to make to society. We aspire to be living examples of Christ’s message of love, serving as role models in the Christian formation of all members of the community. We endeavor to “touch the hearts and minds of those with whom we work.” and in co-operation with parents and parish priest, we will assist children in their own personal development of faith and their appreciation and understanding of the Gospel values. Together, we provide a friendly and caring environment, which inspires the development of initiative, collaboration, self-regulation, responsibility, organization and independent work. We believe that education is a life-long process, involving physical, intellectual, emotional, social and spiritual development. To this end, we will strive to promote the full development of children in the image of Christ.
OUR SCHOOL
St. Andrew Elementary School is an elementary school with over 435 students from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 8. The school is located in the Town of Orangeville. Our 2-storey school is equipped with a gym, a library, a maker-space, and a beautiful spacious school yard.
School History
St. Andrew Elementary School was opened in 1985 and blessed on May 22, 1986. Built in an area still surrounded by open fields, the school opened with 275 students and a staff of twelve teachers. The original Principal was Jack Taylor. Today St. Andrew has a student population of 418 students. To accommodate the growing student population a two-story addition with twelve classrooms was opened in 2007. St. Andrew has strong social concerns and an outreach into the community, supporting charitable organizations activities at St. Timothy Church, ShareLife, the St. Vincent de Paul Society, the Lighthouse Soup Kitchen and the Orangeville FoodBank. The school is named after Jesus' disciple, who was the brother of St. Peter (the original name of the Catholic Church in Orangeville). After Jesus' death, Andrew preached the Gospel across the known world. It is believed that he was martyred in Patras, Greece on a cross in the form of an X.
