Garthwood Park Public School, home of the Garthwood Gators, is a diverse community of learners, servicing students from kindergarten to grade 5. Staff and students strive to develop to their fullest potential through a range of academic, extracurricular and community building activities. School-wide initiatives support students to develop a sense of belonging, to create the motivation to succeed and to demonstrate the skills of good citizenship. The Gator spirit is apparent throughout the school through group and individual Gator recognition awards.

Garthwood Park students use technology to enhance their learning and to connect to the global community. Staff are committed to using differentiated learning to address each learner’s individual strengths and needs. Garthwood Park staff work collaboratively to set goals based on data to address areas of need. Students develop an understanding of their growth as learners through the use of portfolios. Parents are encouraged to be active in their child’s school life by reviewing portfolios, by participating in school council meetings and by attending school-wide events such as concerts, literacy nights and Open House. Garthwood Park students participate in a variety of extracurricular activities which are available at all grade levels. Sports, arts, literacy development and leadership opportunities are offered throughout the year.
