Our School
History
Coppard Glen students took an active part in creating our school crest.
The crest proudly incorporates four symbols, representing the varied aspects of school life. The book represents the book of knowledge and the pursuit of academic excellence. The dove connotes peace. Coppard Glen students recognize the need to respect one another and to live together in harmony. The shooting star acknowledges the importance of goal setting and that our students are always reaching for the stars. The last symbol, the hand raised in victory, reflects the success our students achieve when they strive for excellence.
Facilities
Coppard Glen P.S. was officially opened in 1993.
Coppard Glen Public School boasts a beautiful atrium and welcoming foyer. Our welcome starts with the Character Education wall mural completed in the summer of 2005. Student posters are proudly hung in the atrium outlining the Character attributes.
Work was completed on an addition in September 2002 which allowed us to open up eight new classrooms to the original school building. The school has 30 classrooms, 1 resource center, 1 computer center, 6 portables, 1 full size gym, and a large multi-function community room. We have an established link with Macklin House Day Care for our before and after school program and this year are working closely with both The Early Years Centre and Community Action Program for Children in Markham.
We are adjacent to a municipal park, field, and track; all well utilized by the school population and community for a variety of organized athletic activities.

Safe and Supportive Schools/Character Education/Equity Education
Every student has the right to learn in a safe and supportive environment. The York Region District School Board has a Safe Schools Policy and a defined procedure to implement the policy. Both the policy and procedure support the view that student discipline involves a continuum of support including prevention, intervention and appropriate consequences.
We embrace the YRDSB's priority of Character Education
As part of our ongoing commitment to honour Character Education we celebrate the fact that Coppard Glen has a vibrant Character Education team who works alongside our Together We're Better student team.
Coppard Glen puts much emphasis on: Self-discipline, respect for self and others, and social responsibility. We help our students develop self-knowledge and self-confidence which will enable them to take control of their lives and to use their abilities in a positive manner. Monthly assemblies highlight those students recognized for their contributions.
The Coppard Glen Public School community believes in success for all students. It is committed to developing within each student the attitudes, knowledge and skills needed to be a contributing and responsible member of Canadian society.
