It is the student’s choice to attend Alternative Secondary School. The school provides an opportunity for students to develop an appreciation of their own strengths and capacity to learn and grow, and emphasizes the importance of essential skills and work habits.

Simcoe Alternative Secondary School is focused on individualized, differentiated instruction to support the achievement and well-being all students. Each campus has developed close and supportive partnerships with community organizations to support student growth and development.

Expectations are set high, and students are well-supported as they strive to reach personal and academic goals.

Scheduling and courses at alternative campuses

Our school day is condensed as compared to secondary schools. It allows students to focus on one or two subjects at a time. Our calendar is set up to support secondary schools to refer students to our campuses on a continuous basis. It is important to give students another option to engage in their educational plans. The public education system has many options for students to engage in education and keep their connections to school. The key to success is the positive working relationship developed between teacher and student. Alternative school campuses offer grade 11 and 12 classes at the workplace and college level.
