Dundas Central is a 150+ year old building that has been renovated to support our increase in student population, which currently stands at 485 students from JK to Grade 8. Our school operates a Balanced Day program, with two nutrition breaks dividing the day into three distinct parts. A large gymnasium and library have been added in the last 50 years. The older part of the building is protected by the Ontario Heritage Foundation. The tin ceilings in the upper hall classrooms are a wonderful example of the architectural features of the school. Much of the once-paved playground has been converted to a grassed area, more suited to the school’s heritage.
Dundas is a community and town in Hamilton. It is nicknamed the Valley Town because of its topographical location at the bottom of the Niagara Escarpment on the western edge of Lake Ontario. With the establishment of McMaster University in nearby west Hamilton in 1930, Dundas gradually became a bedroom community of the university faculty and students, with a thriving arts community.
