About Alexander MacKenzie HS

Together, in a safe and secure school community, we will engage in dynamic learning that prepares open-minded individuals who will make a difference in our world. The school opened in 1969 and was renamed Alexander Mackenzie High School in 1992, in honour of Major Alexander Mackenzie, a well-known Richmond Hill resident and philanthropist.

Mill Pond is a large neighbourhood in Richmond Hill that is host to many heritage homes on fairly large lots. The area is populated by two-storey homes and bungalows, with many backing onto walking trails or parkland. The Richmond Hill Performing Art Centre is within walking distance. The pond itself attracts many visitors and local residents alike, with its lush setting home to a variety of wildlife species including ducks, swans, racoons, and beavers. Each year, Mill Pond is home to the Richmond Hill Winter and Summer Carnivals.
