Simcoe County

Simcoe County is located just north of the Greater Toronto Area, stretching from the shores of Lake Simcoe in the east to Georgian Bay in the west. Simcoe County is informally split into two subregions, “South Simcoe” and “North Simcoe”.

Barrie

Barrie is a city politically independent of but geographically within Simcoe County, located along the shores of Kempenfelt Bay, the western arm of Lake Simcoe. The area was first settled during the War of 1812 as a supply depot for British forces, and Barrie was named after Sir Robert Barrie. Significant sectors of the city's diversified economy include education, healthcare, information technology and manufacturing.

Established in 1991, New Tecumseth is a town in Simcoe County, created through the amalgamation of the municipal governments of several communities with the Township of Tecumseth. There are several urban centres surrounded by rural areas primarily devoted to farming and manufacturing in New Tecumseth.
